The Personal Side

Why hello there lovely visitor! Welcome to my little corner of interest, quirks and fun facts.

My name is Ashna, and I am a 26-year-old photographer based in the Greater Moncton area of New Brunswick. To give a brief rundown of who I am on a more personal level, I'll start by sharing the basics:

I am an introvert by nature however, my wild, carefree and adventurous side is best brought out by those I hold most dear to me- my friends/ peeps. I come from a family of 5 which includes my mother, father and two younger brothers of mine. For over a decade, I have been heavily involved in water activities, whether it be participating while young on a swim team, lifeguarding, taking open water courses, teaching aqua-fitness, coaching or instructing lessons for all ages. Now, for the previous few years, I have worked full-time as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Similar to a nurse, only for animals! My first couple of years were in emergency Vet Med, prior to my shift this year in general practice where I now have more dedicated time to building my photography biz. My worst-kept secret? I'll never say no to including your animals in a shoot.

I am very passionate about our incredible planet and my interest in photography first sparked stemming from my enjoyment of hiking. I'm a bit of a lapel pin collector and have a lavender backpack dedicated to my pin collection- mainly from the Maritimes or souvenirs from trips. I've travelled all across Atlantic Canada and every time I go somewhere both new and familiar, I am still amazed. I wanted to base my photography style on the rich earthy colours I encounter and my favourite thing... sunshine. Often I find myself incorporating warm tones into my creativity, partially due to the fact warm weather fuels my energy and sparks motivation in my work.

Some small and more random extras to include about myself are the fact that both 'Friday Night Lights' and 'Game of Thrones' tie for my all-time favourite show. I'm a bit of an ice cream fanatic, especially when it comes to PEI's famous COWS ice cream. And I'll never say no to a casual cider or less casually, a good margarita. Sephora is my guilty pleasure to shop at because I enjoy makeup, however, I've struggled largely on and off with acne, something I've always been self-conscious of.

Part of why I love capturing other people behind the lens is because I'm able to photograph from another perspective. Meaning, some of the little details you may dislike about yourself can be shown in a new light, or your biggest insecurities looked past or embraced. Photography is unique, just like every individual, wedding, proposal, or love story and I want to showcase that by taking intimate care in each session. I believe in creating a fun, creative, inclusive and safe space for all clients and it means the absolute world to me when I am entrusted to do so.
